It’s spring and my house is filled with guests every weekend! I like to plan ahead and stock up on paper plates, utensils, serving dishes and napkins throughout the year. If I see something while traveling or on a regular shopping trip I purchase it and then store it away for when I need it. Party planning or even having a small dinner party can be so much fun, as long as you’re going about it the right way! Make like a Girl Scout / Boy Scout and “be prepared”!
Local Connecticut friends, this one is for you! This past weekend I stopped into Avon Prime Meats a local butcher and specialty store with a deli selection and catering! They carry everything from prime & premium choice beef, to produce and dairy – with a section stocked full of freshly prepared foods – ready to serve.
Halloween is by far my favorite holiday (aside from my own birthday). I love the idea that for one night you can become anything from your wildest dreams of adventure - it gives a certain power to creativity and imagination (two things I live for!). With so many ideas and dreams for this particular party I sort of combined a mixture of ideas and themes.
Every event needs a cheese platter - a laid-back spring time backyard BBQ, Sunday football gathering, a Halloween party, Thanksgiving feast or a New Years Eve soirée, this platter idea can cater to any style gathering.
I love hosting friends and family... My number one rule for having guests over is - keep it simple. Prepare as much as possible ahead of time. Let's face it, no one wants to watch you rush around the kitchen - they want to spend time with you. Prep the table, place settings, or buffet before the party.
